EMDR therapy is an evidence-based approach that can help people process difficult memories and emotions related to past traumatic experiences. The therapy involves an eight-phase protocol that addresses past events, current triggers, and future situations. By processing memories and emotions that have become 'stuck' in the brain's memory due to stressful events, EMDR can reduce the body's response to trauma reminders and support positive shifts in thinking related to past stressors.
